You own a freshly built pond or are in the process of building a new pond.

You have carefully designed this pond to collect and hold water for livestock, for wildlife, for fishing, and just for tranquil beauty. You want to ensure your pond’s ability to collect and hold water for all these purposes. You need to know more about your soil type so you need soil testing information before you fill your pond with water.

Here is your pond assessment checklist!

1. Soil Test. This will reveal the soil porosity you have in your pond bottom. If it needs Pond Sealer, the test will indicate how much. The more porous the soil is, the more Pond Sealer is required to seal the bottom. Click here for Soil Test instructions that you can follow at home.
2. What are the dimensions of the pond? We will need length and width if Pond Sealer is needed.
3. What is the depth of the pond? An additional 25% to 50% more bentonite could be needed on large scale projects to allow for greater water depths (water pressure) in the bottom of the pond.
4. Are all side slopes of your pond at 45 degree angles or less? (so the Pond Sealer will stay in place)

How do you order Pond Sealer?

Call us and we will help you determine how much Pond Sealer to order. The pond assessment checklist answers will provide the information we need to calculate the quantity of Pond Sealer your pond needs. We will use a formula involving the length, width and depth of the pond to arrive at the answer.
